Earth friendly Japanese Batik
This project has already run a day long “Katazome” workshop, which is a way of producing batik with only natural materials for example Japanese tree bark is boiled to produce the dye needed.
Many of the materials used are actually edible and on the workshop day, soya milk and dumplings were made out of the leftover materials. Maki who ran the workshop, is currently heavily pregnant but hopes to run some more workshops from September. We wish Maki lots of luck with the birth!

Oblong supported this project by providing meeting space, help finding a venue to run the workshop in, advice in successfully applying for a small grant. We also looked after the grant in our bank account and provided financial and budgeting support and we look forward to working with her again in September
