Mothers Against Violence

Mothers Against Violence Leeds was set up by local resident Pat Regan at Oblong Community Resource Centre. Pat's son was murdered in a gun shooting incident in 2002. After this, Pat was out on the streets of Leeds (and further afield) talking to victims and perpetrators of gun and other violent crimes.

Pat secured funding to run weekly drop in sessions which were accessed by many people whose lives were affected by gun crime, she also regularly ran workshops in schools up and down the county and comforted scores of people who had lost loved ones through violent crime. Providing education and support to all, Pat was a truly inspiring women. Her death in June 2008 was a huge shock to all that knew her and has left a great hole in our community.

Oblong will do everything we can to make sure that Pat's legacy continues. Mothers Against Violence still have an office in our centre and we are ready to support anyone who wants to carry on with the work that Pat began.
