Why Volunteer?

Oblong promotes volunteering as a positive and valuable experience.

People volunteer for a whole range of reasons; we came up with the following as good reasons to volunteer:

  • To get out of the house
  • To gain new skills
  • To gain experience to get a job you want
  • To have fun
  • To be with friends who already volunteer
  • To gain an insight into local community
  • To meet people and make new friends
  • To work with particular sections of the community
  • To do something which is recognised
  • To improve the local community
